Welcome to Blood and Broken Hearts! We're a literate post-breaking dawn RP set five years after the book. The pack has split in two, a great misunderstanding has ended up in Charlie's death and Jacob's exclusion from the Cullen house hold. The distraction of the new disagreements between vampire and werewolf has left a new revolution unnoticed, one meant to take down the Cullens and the packs for good.

RUN DON’T WALK THE SKY IS FALLING THROUGH DON’T TALK TONIGHT I’M SO CONFUSED I’M LOST, I’M LOST WITH YOU
Alice was taking a relaxing walk through the streets of Forks. She was bored so she had decided to just walk for a while. With no one around she was just taking a stroll, no one knew why but it was just to get out of the house. That’s what Alice wanted. Things were a lot more tense lately in the house. So Alice had decided that she might as well just get away from the craziness and just relax for a bit. It was something she hadn’t been able to do properly for a while, so it was nice to just walk and ignore everything else.
As she walked through the streets she noticed that it was pretty quiet, which wasn’t something she was used to. In fact she was used to Forks being pretty busy, not crazy busy that you couldn’t walk, but there was always a little hustle and bustle. But today, nothing. Everything was silent, everything was still. It was slightly unnerving, but Alice just relaxed, a smile on her face as she hummed. Alice was always happy go lucky, even if there was nothing to be happy go lucky about. That was just how Alice was. Happy happy happy.
After a while Alice found a bench, she relaxed a bit and sat down on the bench, kicking her legs like a child would as she hummed lightly. She’d had a song stuck in her head for a while but she just continued to hum it happily. At least she wasn’t singing, then she’d definitely be seen as a bit of a crazy. She’d already been through that once, though she couldn’t remember it. She smiled as she realised how good her life really was, she was probably one of the only vampires who completely and utterly loved her vampire life and didn’t think about her human one. But because she couldn’t remember her human life that was pretty obvious.
Hearing a noise Alice frowned, glancing around herself she sniffed the air lightly. “Who’s there?” She asked curiously.

“Oh come on sweetheart… just another fifteen minutes…” Emily sighed, gazing down at her little boy. Poor Kennedy’s eyes were beginning to droop, his steps getting lazier and his feet dragging. She couldn’t blame him. His little sister, Taylor was already asleep in the stroller, but that was really all they had, just the one stroller.
This morning Emily had run out of groceries, which was a very bad thing in her house hold. While most mothers who took care of dinner only cooked for their families, Emily made it a responsibility to always have something for whoever dropped by. The wolves in her husband’s pack were growing boy and now girls and they all loved her cooking, that, and sometimes some stayed over for their own personal reasons. Right now even, there was stew in slow cooker on her counter, wafting the thick aroma of beef stew throughout the kitchen. That, and cookies on the counter which by now were most likely all gone.
Em didn’t resent what she did, she loved how the wolves depended on her like a mother and she treated them like her family. Even Jake’s pack, she still felt something for those guys and always made extra just in case… though she didn’t think that was going to happen with the territorial problems at the moment.
Feeling a drag on her hand which she’d been holding Kennedy with, Em glanced down to see the little boy stop all together and Emily groaned softly but reached down and gently pulled him up into one arm. She was going to be sore when she got home… but that was life. Right now she had groceries filling the bottom compartment of the stroller that her two year old was sleeping in, there was another bag, clothes this time looped around her arm that was full of pants and sundresses, these for the pack as well. They were half price and she couldn’t pass that up, not with the money problems her family was having as of late.
“Alright love… go on, I’ll carry you.” She crooned to her little boy as she stood back up again and adjusted the bags on her aching arm. Reaching out she took hold of the stroller again and started to push it. She hadn’t wanted to take the kids with her… but the car had broken down and Sam was out with his boys again. Laura, her sister, had taken Claire and Christina to their grandparents today and Emily didn’t want to dump her kids on her mom and dad too, that wouldn’t be fair. So here she was, two sleeping children and one exhausted mother.
Heading through around a corner she heard something and looked up seeing a vampire. At first she panicked, recognizing the beauty and pale skin. But moments later she got curious and calmed down. This was one she knew… Alice. Yes, she knew Alice through Bella. She hadn’t really spoken with her or anything, but she’d seen pictures and she knew for a fact that this woman here wasn’t a human-drinker. You could see by the color of her eyes.
“Hey…” She said, coming a little closer, these were the people her husband told her to stay away from… but honestly, she didn’t think the Cullens had anything to do with these murders. “You’re… Alice Cullen aren’t you?” She asked curiously, stopping the stroller then. She’d been wanting to talk with one of them for awhile, figure out what was going on… not that she’d tell Sam, he’d freak if he knew.
She shifted her bags a bit and extended a hand that wasn’t holding a toddler. “We haven’t met, I’m Emily Uley… used to be a friend of Bella’s..” She said, unsure if really she should be talking to one of them.

RUN DON’T WALK THE SKY IS FALLING THROUGH DON’T TALK TONIGHT I’M SO CONFUSED I’M LOST, I’M LOST WITH YOU
Alice instantly was drawn to look at the scar for less than a micro second. She knew that she shouldn’t but she couldn’t help it. Alice looked at the kids and smiled lightly, she had heard about Emily from Bella, and knew that she was like a mother to all of the wolves. She smiled and laughed slightly when she saw the hand come towards her. “Pleased to meet you Emily.” Alice sighed. “But I don’t think I should shake your hand, because…well your husband could get angry, and I don’t want you to get into trouble for having vampire scent on you, you know?” Alice said. Alice didn’t want to get Emily into trouble, Alice knew from what Bella said that Emily was a very gentle soul and a very nice person.
She smiled and laughed as she moved on the bench. “Why don’t you sit down, I mean it seems like you’ve got your hands full and if you’ve got a way of walking it may be a bit easier if you have a break between.” Alice said, wondering slightly why Emily didn’t have another push chair for the other child. She didn’t really keep up to speed on the wolf pack, since she couldn’t see them, but still she didn’t like seeing humans in pain. She looked at Emily. “I’m sorry I don’t mean to pry but, don’t you have another stroller?” She asked slowly as she pushed her hair back.
It was obvious from what Alice could see that Emily was finding it hard with the shopping and the children to carry everything. Alice smiled lightly. “Your children are beautiful.” Alice commented. “I bet the house is a lot calmer when they’re asleep.” Alice laughed, she didn’t want to comment that it never would be because of the shifters, but she didn’t want to start anything up with Emily since it really wasn’t her fault that Sam had imprinted on her, it wasn’t fair since she really hadn’t done anything.

Emily smiled a little and thought but nodded withdrawing her hand. “That’s true.” She agreed, adjusting her little boy against her shoulder, the child nuzzled in closer and wrapped his arms around his mother’s neck loosely to keep on, Emily didn’t mind in the slightest. She looked to the bench and glanced at her watch before smiling and nodded, putting the bags down and pulled the stroller close so she could monitor her baby girl before sitting down for the first time in two hours. “Thanks.” Emily smiled greatfully as she pushed her hair behind her shoulder and brought her boy down into two arms now, cradling him like a baby instead and Kennedy smiled in his sleep, the four year old nuzzled up against his mom and she smiled looking up at Alice.
“Another? No… but normally it’s alright, they aren’t walking this much.” She explained with a soft smile at her son before she looked back up to the vampire. She barely noticed that Alice had stared at the sight of the scar but she didn’t mind either way, she barely remembered she had it sometimes. “Usually if I’d go shopping I’d take the car, but… we need to get the brake fixed and I couldn’t get a babysitter, Sam’s out with the boys and all.” She shrugged a shoulder. “Kennedy just isn’t used to walking this much.” She sighed, but she knew this was going to happen, he would get tired. She hadn’t expected he’d go the full two hours actually.
“Oh, thankyou.” She laughed lightly. “They’re loud yeah.” She smirked leaning back against the bench. A breeze blew by, rustling her hair softly but Emily got no scent whatsoever from Alice, whatever the wolves talked about with vampires was somewhat hard to believe but she supposed they had a heightened sense of smell.
“Lately Kennedy’s been trying to copy his dad.” She smiled, “All the way down to the howling, and the boys are encouraging him so it’s gotten rather hectic.” She scoffed lightly with a shake of her head. Growing silent before looking up at Alice. “How’s your niece? I’ve met her before… she was only a toddler then though, people tell me she grows quickly?” She asked curiously, but genuinely interested. She wasn’t sure what to bring up with the Cullens… if they were as sensitive about the other species as the wolves were.

RUN DON’T WALK THE SKY IS FALLING THROUGH DON’T TALK TONIGHT I’M SO CONFUSED I’M LOST, I’M LOST WITH YOU
Alice smiled back at Emily, so far she could see why Bella liked Emily. She was so understanding and very calm. It was different to the wolf pack. Alice knew Jacob was very angry and protective, but Emily seemed a lot more trusting of Alice, which was a huge surprise to her. She thought that she’d be just a little more wary of her because of her husband’s views about the Cullen family.
Nodding Alice smiled. “Ah, I thought that Sam would have had them running around and stuff, I bet they have a lot of energy.” Though Alice wasn’t always the nicest to the wolf pack, she could see that the kids had had a good upbringing. She really had to admire Emily, it must be hard to be the wife of the pack leader, to bring up children in what she knew was obviously a very complicated and dangerous world. But she seemed like she had no problem coping with it all. Smiling as she saw the child smile in his sleep she couldn’t help but giggle at how cute it was. “Ah, well that makes sense.” Alice said nodding.
Alice laughed. “Yeah I know all about loudness, my brother and husband tend to fight a lot, it drives Esme crazy because they’re always breaking stuff. It’s funny to watch though, until it starts getting serious and you have to break them up.” Alice added slightly hesitantly. It was always fun to watch Emmett and Jasper fight though. Then she got to help Jasper get over it later…which was even more fun.
Alice laughed as she heard the howling. She was surprised that it seemed that Emily was classing the wolf pack as ‘the boys’ as if they were her children too. “Wow, that is loud.” Alice laughed. It didn’t surprise Alice that Emily was asking after Nessie to be honest, she knew that Emily was very motherly and probably loved it when she used to go over. “Nessie’s good, she’s a little upset, which I don’t blame her for, but you know, she could be worse.” Alice laughed as Emily said about the growing fast. “Yeah she’s just the best thing in the family right now.” Alice laughed slightly nodding. “She’s five but looks double her age.” Alice couldn’t help but get lost in the memories of how Nessie had helped her family to come together completely, taking away the divide between Rosalie and Bella and everything else.
Re: Stroll- open « Reply #5 on Jul 11, 2010, 1:59pm »
“Lots.” She agreed about her children’s energy levels, they were incredibly high. “Taylor is worse though believe it or not.” She laughed and nodded her head over to the little girl cuddled up with a blanket in the stroller. “If she could I bet she’d run off with the pack.” Emily sighed fondly as she watched her daughter.
“And yes, when Sam actually gets to be at home for awhile, he runs wild with the kids.” She smirked. “Pony rides are the favorite.” Emily explained, stroking her fingers through her son’s dark hair before returning her arm around him.
She listened and smiled a little with a nod. “Sounds a bit like the pack actually…” The pack was always all over the place in her home she knew a lot about it. “Paul usually starts it, all in good fun but sometimes someone’s got to step in and break it up. That’s when I bring out the cookies.” She giggled with a small smile. “But boys will be boys, no matter what species.” She sighed with a shake of the head.
Shifting a little on the bench, Emily crossed one leg over the other to better hold her baby, she turned a little more towards Alice now, interested as she spoke with her. She sighed and nodded. “Everyone’s a little upset… the pack sort of split up too you know? I haven’t seen Jake’s side of it in awhile…” She frowned tucking some hair behind her ear, a small amoung of concern in her eyes. “ I can relate though, Sam’s always out doing something with the pack, it’s horrible to be away from them you know? Even if he’s the one to imprint on me and not the other way around.”
Em smiled. “Wow… growing so fast… literally.” She sighed and shook her head. “She’s a sweetheart, last time I saw her she was playing with these two, very quiet girl.” She nodded and looked off, Forks was nice, it didn’t quite look like rain but she knew it would probably start up eventually. Most likely tonight.
She glanced down as one of the bags at her ankles was about to tip and reached down pulling it back up, getting a glimpse of all the guy’s jean shorts. Man she really had to stock up. Looking up at Alice she smiled a bit. “For the boys… my house is sort of… you know, the center point for the pack to get a new wardrobe.” She explained as she set the bag against the bench. “They go through clothes faster then my kids do, they could always get their own but most of their parents don’t know and having fifty pairs of jeans in the house is a little odd when they keep disappearing you know?” She smiled a little with a shrug. Em had taken it upon herself to provide the pack with what they needed. “They’re good kids anyways. It’s the least I could do.”

RUN DON’T WALK THE SKY IS FALLING THROUGH DON’T TALK TONIGHT I’M SO CONFUSED I’M LOST, I’M LOST WITH YOU
Alice smiled and laughed. “Ah well, I bet you don’t have a dull day with them though.” Alice said. Alice laughed more as Emily said about running off with the pack. “Well maybe that could be a game for them, run like the pack, you give them space in the garden or something, watch them at all times and let them run around pretending they’re wolves.” Alice laughed. “It probably would tire them out quicker.” Alice glanced down at the little girl and smiled more. “She is adorable.” Alice commented. She didn’t know where the gooey girly feelings were coming from, but she couldn’t help them, she just thought the two kids were some of the cutest things she’d seen.
Alice was trying her hardest not to smell the air, she knew that if she did she may get thirsty. Alice found it harder to be around kids. She knew it was because they were so active their blood smelled more prominent, pounding through their little bodies, it always made it just that much harder to resist. But Alice’s will power was a lot better than people gave her credit for. She was good at keeping her thirst in check, especially because she had to hang out with Bella and Bella’s human friends, it made her a bit stronger.
A smile grew on the pixie’s face as Emily said about the pony rides. “Is that on the wolf back or his own back?” Alice asked curiously. It wasn’t in a cruel way, she was just curious as to if it was ‘pony’ rides or wolf rides. Either way she knew it would probably be adorable to see. She couldn’t deny that in any shape way or form.
“Does Paul start it out of anger or out of jest? Like Emmett will tease Jasper until Jasper can’t take it, but they never do it out of anger. Well, most of the time they don’t do it out of anger.” Smiling lightly she remembered the last argument. “And then there are the bets, which are often funnier, it’s either, who will win, who will give up first, or how long it’ll take Esme to break it up.” Alice laughed lightly, her laugh sounding like very high ringing bells. Alice nodded along with Emily. “Definitely, boys either think about their stomachs or who they’re going to fight with next…or sex of course.” Alice said slightly offhandedly.
It had never occurred to Alice that the pack would have been going through the same things. In hindsight she shoulda thought about it. “It’s always made me think about the humans who don’t know about the vampires and the wolf packs, what do they think about all the strange stuff that goes on? I mean, do they notice and just ignore it, or do they just not notice at all?” Alice always tried not to think about this, it just didn’t seem to be a huge thing that she had to think about all the time, but every so often it came into her head and she had to wonder what they thought. Sighing as Alice heard Jake’s name she shook her head. “This is stupid, they shouldn’t all be fighting like this. I don’t understand why Edward will easily ban Jacob from seeing Renesmee when he knows how much he hated being away from Bella.” Alice said in a rather angry tone. She loved her brother of course, and could understand that it was because of Bella’s heart break, but she thought he was being selfish and wasn’t thinking about his daughter at all.
Alice sighed and put her hands on her forehead. “Sorry, outburst, I feel like I can’t talk about it in the house. You shouldn’t be burdened with troubles that aren’t your own.” Alice said as she rubbed her temples lightly.
She smiled lightly at Emily as she spoke about Renesmee. “Yeah, she’s really sweet and stuff, way too old for her age but you know. She’s still a kid at heart and a lot of the time you can see that through whatever she’s doing. But sometimes I wonder if her parents are being just a little too protective of her.”
Alice glanced down as the bag tipped over. She smiled. “Ah, you’re really the mother figure for the pack aren’t you?” Alice smiled lightly as she listened to Emily talking. Alice frowned lightly. “But it must be pretty expensive, I mean you’re paying for your own clothes, your children’s clothes, your husband’s clothes and the packs clothes as well as food and drinks and other things? That’s a pretty big job, how do you keep on top of it all?” She asked curiously.
Alice kinda knew that money would be hard, so she felt pretty bad though it was completely out of her hand. She knew that if anyone in her family found out that she’d been talking to Emily, she’d be seen as the bad person, and she knew it would be the same for Emily and the pack. It wasn’t fair that this feud had gone on for so long, it made no sense. Granted she understood the treaty and stuff, but shouldn’t it have all changed? Renesmee’s birth should have changed things to go a different way. It was obvious that Emily was willing to look over the ‘dangers’ of the golden eyed vampires, why couldn’t the others see that it was safe?
Mild weather; Richard loved it. It made it a lot easier to go around the town of Forks unexposed, especially when he ran out of essentials, like his cigarettes that were smoked purely out of habit. Not that he needed nicotine or anything, much less could his vampiric body absorb it in any fashion or feel its effects. He made a quick stop at the local convenience store to pick up another pack, using only a sliver of his well-earned money to replenish his supply. All the rest of his money was either going towards paying rent, filling up his truck with gas, and occasionally picking up a new set of clothes or getting his hands on a new tool set; the rest of the time, the money was usually put away for whatever purpose he might need it for at a future date, but for now money was pretty much a human commodity and wasn't very useful for him. He never had to pay for groceries, not when his only food source was the blood of humans. Some of the reasons he didn't like to spend a lot of money was to sort of avoid the dirty looks he usually got from the cashiers. Whether or not it was his pale skin or the oil stains on his pants was beyond him, but usually it was a bit of both. He might not have been classy, but at least Richard was comfortable, and that was all that mattered.
Walking around the block a little, Richard noticed that the streets of Forks were pretty quiet. Had he lost track of the time? Hardly. It was still in the daylight hours last he checked the sky, but it was getting closer to Rush Hour and there weren't many cars on the road. Did they all break down or something? He would've confirmed that suspicion had there been more cars at the auto shop in the past few days, but that wasn't the case. Although he fed on the blood of humans, Richard never killed them; it was far too risky to go that route, being labeled an enemy and all. He was a solo vampire, at least for now. It didn't help him to attract attention, especially the curious or the negative type. It was far easier to just use an anesthetic on them (in order to render them unconscious) and draw a pint of blood for a later date with a syringe; Richard thought it was a little more humane than savagely biting them in order to feed and leave them traumatized. Plus, the brighter side was that Richard could leave unnoticed and the donor human would wake up with just a headache. A win-draw situation if Richard ever thought so...
Having managed to get a couple pints for himself today, Richard lit up a cigarette and continued to walk around the city streets, not straying too far from the auto shop where he left his truck parked in the back. That was where he worked, and he didn't want to abandon his only vehicle there when the clouds could break at any time. That would just spell trouble for him. With that thought in the back of his mind, Richard caught a whiff of a couple humans not far from him. There was only a hint of masculinity in the air, signaling that there was at least one young boy, but the majority of the air smelled of feminine nature, meaning there was a mature girl too. A mother perhaps, carting around a young kid or two. This made Richard curious, seeing that the scent of humans today were few and far in-between.
Deciding to check it out, Richard rounded another corner and found the humans he'd sniffed coming into view. However, there was someone else there too, a girl with pale skin and pixie-like hair. Given her apparent lack of human scent, Richard had her pegged as another vampire. This was either a good thing, or a very very bad thing. Although he hadn't quite noticed the color of her eyes, Richard was pretty sure he'd be unwelcome in her presence. His own eyes were crimson, showing him to feed off of humans, but the few times they were golden he'd drained a big-game animal. Right now, they were red. His hair, although covered by a beanie, probably wouldn't help the image. Richard tried not to look conspicuous, but his own darting eyes would probably be an easy read for the vampire girl. Making contact was not in Richard's best interest at the moment, but if they decided to rope him in he wouldn't mind having to explain himself.
In reality Richard wasn't a bad guy; he just had the complexion of a demon child; a rough, unrefined grease-monkey of a vampire who worked on cars for a living. Now all that mattered was what the two adults there thought about him, or if they would do anything at all...

RUN DON’T WALK THE SKY IS FALLING THROUGH DON’T TALK TONIGHT I’M SO CONFUSED I’M LOST, I’M LOST WITH YOU
Just after Alice had finished speaking she felt a vision coming. She let it take her over, and she went slightly rigid. She saw a very spiky haired vampire coming near them. Coming back out of the vision she looked at Emily. “There’s another vampire coming.” Alice said in a very low voice. “I want you to stay where you are and trust me when I tell you that whether or not he’s a threat I will not let him harm you or your children, I give you my word.” Alice said with honesty in her eyes.
Glancing around, she smelled his scent, she glanced back to Emily and held her hand up slightly. “Don’t move, and don’t be scared.” Alice said as she stood up slowly and sniffed the air lightly. He was close, Alice could smell it, and it definitely wasn’t someone she knew. Glancing over to where she smelled him she saw a crimson eyed vampire. She looked back to Emily. “Stay here, I won’t let anyone hurt you.” She promised Emily before she broke into a run, vampire pace over to the vampire and glared at him.
Alice was well fed and her eyes were a very nice golden colour. She looked at him. “You better have a very good reason for being here and you better not be thinking about killing them or else I will have to rip you into a thousand pieces.” She snarled at him. Though she couldn’t say that Emily was her friend, she knew that if something did happen to her, her family was in trouble, more trouble than usual. She wasn’t going to let that happen, and though she was pretty small she could still take the vampire. Glancing back to Emily to make sure Emily was ok and so were the children, Alice sniffed the air again. “You’re here alone, or has someone else hidden their own scent?” She asked him slowly and cautiously.
There weren’t often vampires in the area, but lately things had been turned on it’s head and she didn’t know what to think about anything. There were many new faces in Forks and a lot of them she was worried weren’t too peaceful and they’d be facing another Victoria style vampire.

Emily laughed and shook her head. “No… never a dull day.” She confirmed with a smirk. “And I’ll try that.” She gave a nod of the head, her hair gently moving around her neck and down her back as she did. “They’d love it, the whole ‘daddy’s a werewolf’ thing is fairytaleque to them.” Emily smiled again, she actually found herself enjoying this chat between her and a vampire, who knew? “Course, we have to stay away from things like Little Red Ridinghood and the Three Little Pigs.” If the kids saw daddy getting his stomach sliced open or trying to eat live pigs she was pretty sure that they’d start to cry.
“Both.” Emily laughed, returning Alice’s smile. “Kennedy likes wolfback because it’s higher but Tay doesn’t like heights.” She loved watching the little kids run with their father, it was adorable really… “Of course, he’s the tallest in the pack being the oldest and the Alpha.” She shrugged a shoulder lightly. “When Quil used to do it with Claire, Taylor would join in because he wasn’t full grown yet.” She told her this with an amused voice, man, all those wolves she loved every one of them. “Of course… that doesn’t happen anymore, Quil doesn’t come around.” She sighed softly with a shake of her head.
“Either way.” She smiled. “Sometimes they’re angry… but usually they joke.” She didn’t approve of the boys fighting around her kids or even in the house. “Though I’ve had a few vases that’ve needed replacing.” She giggled at the memory, all fond no matter how much damage they’d done.
Listening about the humans she sighed. “A lot of my friends think… that there’s a serial killer on the loose and bears in the forests. It’s sort of a scare but they’re trying to just keep inside as much as possible.” She explained what she knew. “From my friends of course, that’s in La Push and there isn’t that bad of stuff going on there yet…” She sighed. “ A few dissapearances…”
At the woman’s outburst she stared and then groaned in relief. “So I’m not the only one who thinks all this fighting is pointless?” She sighed and shook her head. “Don’t be sorry, and it’s alright. See… my husband thinks it’s your family that’s causing all this.” She sighed gently. “And Jacob sort of fought against that, he was completely torn up when he was ‘banished’.” She frowned with concern in her eyes. “Then there’s Leah and Seth… because the packs separated I haven’t seen either of them, and whenever Claire comes to my house she’s always asking for Quil but Sam won’t allow it…” She sighed softly. “But I did go and see Jacob, at his place. He misses her.” Emily frowned and nodded gently. “It is stupid… something’s wrong… and no one’s doing anything to help.” She sighed softly. It was true though, the way she felt about all that? It was stupid and finally she had someone, a vampire no less that was agreeing with her.
“Your family’s lived here for ages… Seth loves you guys.” She smiled a bit. “He used to come over every day and talk about all of you, like Edward’s music or… how one of your sisters really didn’t like any of us.” She laughed softly and shook her head. “And he’s tell me about you and your husband and all.” She explained. “But I guess we’ll just have to wait for it to calm down won’t we?”
She smiled about Renesmee and nodded. “Might be… but then again, I’d do anything to keep my kids safe.” She sighed, shifting again against the bench, to keep comfortable with the four year old who was getting heavy. Her bag tipped and reaching down for it, Emily looked up at Alice and smiled. “I am, yeah…” She sighed. “It’s expensive… very, but some of them don’t exactly have good stuff to go home to.” She frowned a little and shifted her son so he was more against her shoulder now, he didn’t seem to mind and just kept sleeping.
“Embry for example, he never told his mom about the werewolves and she still yells at him about sneaking out. He’s constantly grounded.” She sighed. “So sometimes I let him stay over, all that yelling can get to him.” She smiled weakly. She really did care about these boys. “And the girls now? We’ve got some new ones lately and there’s two girls and two boys… they’re all confused so I might as well make it as homey as I can right?” She smiled a bit. “but.. you’re right, money’s… a big issue.” She nodded and looked down now, they weren’t doing so well… what with Sam running off saving the wold and her with two kids? “I’m looking for work though… and keeping on top of it all’s hard but sometimes my sister Laura pitches in, or my parents.” She sighed gently running her fingers through her hair. “We’re holding on, it’ll be alright.” She smiled up at Alice, trying to convince herself more then the woman across from her.
Listening to a car pull up, she looked down at her little boy but when she looked back up at Alice the woman had frozen and seemed to be staring off. Emily frowned. “Alic-“ She stopped talking the moment Alice did and froze, her eyes widened a bit but for some reason she sort of trusted this vampire.
Watching Alice get up and walk over to the car she drew her son closer and looked up at the driver, she couldn’t get a clear view of his face but something told her to just stay quiet and do what Alice said. She did reach out though and pull the stroller with Taylor in it close. She didn’t want anyone hurting her little kids, or waking them for that matter.

Even if Richard wasn't the social butterfly he knew most teenage boys to be, his open mind and rapid pace of thought was something to note. Despite his quasi-precognitive chain of thought, his predictions about the woman being a vampire were true. Her speed gave her away immediately, but it was going to be to her disadvantage. The display of speed triggered Richard's own ability, to sense any immediate danger in the area to himself or others, and knowing it was there gave him time to act accordingly. His own vampiric speed allowed him to put a bit of distance, not much though (a couple of feet maybe, just to stave off a hit if it came), between him and where his oppressor came to stand, leaving Richard out of any immediate danger, but in the process Richard had dropped his cigarette which wasn't even half-way burnt yet. Sometimes that ability came in mighty handy, but what a waste...
Her words were vulgar but appropriate, lacking any foul language. Richard returned her glare with a hint of confusion, wondering why she was so hostile. Richard's only thought on her motive was that the three humans he'd sniffed were close to this vampiric girl, much like a vicious dog protecting her mate or pups. In this case, it was drastically similar. His reply was simple, but it served as a foundation for an explanation he had waiting in the wings.
"I ran out of cigarettes."
As to why a vampire would need cigarettes was probably a silly notion to ponder. Tobacco smoke dulled the sense of smell, one of a vampire's most important senses. Consequently, it also disguised the smoker's scent to a degree. But why? Richard's case was simple; he liked to smoke. It was a force of habit, something he was used to doing when he was working on cars, passing it off as a normal human addiction so that he might blend in somewhat better. Still, it was more or less a 'smoke screen' to disguise who he really was.
"And I've never killed anyone, except for the one who turned me into what I am today."
Richard spoke the truth; the only time he'd dismembered somebody was the time he became a vampire, back in Colorado several years ago. A vampire, much like the one that stood before Richard now except exchanging the golden eyes for crimson ones, bit into Richard's shoulder and turned his life upside-down from that moment on. Rage was the only thing Richard felt after the transformation, and it was his chainsaw that dismembered the fiendish leech and a nearby burning slash pile took care of the rest. That was the first and only time Richard ever felt the desire to kill, and hopefully it would be the last.
Her next question was a little curious, but Richard wrote it off as her erring on the side of caution. As far as he knew they were the only two vampires in the area; he would've known if there were any others since he was working in the auto shop all day. So far the day had been pretty quiet... up until now.
"Last I checked, I should be the only one besides you here."
Introductions were a little stodgy for Richard; he wasn't used to talking much. Smoking, working on cars, and pretty much talking with his hands were his forte; carrying on a conversation, on the other hand, was not, depending on the topic. He didn't like to talk about himself, but in this case it was probably better to spill the beans than risk making an enemy out of the only other vampire he'd seen in a while. Richard did see a couple others, but they usually never stuck around.
"I'm Richard, automechanic from the shop a couple blocks away. And you are?"

RUN DON’T WALK THE SKY IS FALLING THROUGH DON’T TALK TONIGHT I’M SO CONFUSED I’M LOST, I’M LOST WITH YOU
As soon as Alice was near the vampire he moved back. Alice hissed slightly, in complete protection mode, meaning that she couldn’t help but act like some form of animal. She could understand the predator thing, but it probably looked very strange. But to Alice, doing it felt right, so she didn’t really mind.
Watching him closely, Alice saw the confusion in his eyes, not sure why he’d been confused, she’d asked him a simple question, one that showed that she was willing to kill him if he was here to harm Emily. Usually vampire feeding habits didn’t bother Alice at all, it was really none of her business, unless there was an army or something. But as soon as he answered her, the confusion that was in his eyes flickered in hers for a second. She closed her eyes and frowned as she looked at him. “What?” The words were so far from what Alice expected him to say that she felt completely taken aback when he answered.
She didn’t think about it for long just let him continue to talk or say whatever he would. Alice knew from his first answer of cigarettes that this vampire wasn’t anything like she’d encountered before. She flicked her head to one side very slightly to get her hair away from her face. When he told her he’d never killed anyone Alice’s frown deepened. “Excuse me? Your eyes are red, that gives me an idea that you’re lying.” Alice said cautiously, she didn’t want to fight, not in front of Emily. Though she knew that Emily knew the dangers of vampires, she didn’t want Emily to be frightened of the Cullen’s. If one of them knew that the Cullen’s weren’t a threat, maybe it’d be easier.
When he said that there was only two vampires, him and Alice, it caused Alice to frown. “Wait, so you’re telling me that you don’t know about the animal drinkers who live here, a big coven too, and you don’t know about the mysterious disappearings and murders?” Alice didn’t believe that for one second. But she shook her head and glared at him again. “I want one promise, I want the promise that you will not harm the humans over there. I want your word.” Alice knew that a lot of vampire’s word didn’t mean anything, but still she wanted to make sure that Emily was ok.
Glancing back to Emily, she held up a hand lightly to show that so far things were ok, but still to keep cautious. She couldn’t talk, but still.
As he introduced himself, Alice looked back at him. “I’m Alice Cullen, one of the Olympic coven, no job.” Alice was still pretty brisk with him, but she felt as if she had to be. She didn’t know him and she knew if Emily was harmed then Sam would stop at nothing to kill the Cullen family, or at least Alice, and if Alice got killed Jasper would probably get angry.

Watching from afar wasn’t exactly the funnest thing, Emily didn’t quite know what was going on but she knew she wouldn’t be helping by just waltzing over there for an explination either, and there was no way that she’d put her two little angels in danger like that.
Watching closely, Em felt her son move and looked down at him, she cradled him against her body sitting up some more. Her eyes set on Kenny’s face she smiled softly as he opened his eyes and yawned a little. “Shh… baby go back to sleep we aren’t home yet.” She whispered, rocking him gently and his eyelids drooped. “Mommy I’m hungry…” He yawned burying his face against her again and she sighed rubbing his back, glancing up at the vampires, seeing Alice raise her hand and she stayed put.
“I know sweetheart, I’ll wake you up when we get home OK?” She asked, her voice soft and gentle with her son. He thought about this for a moment before nodding and shut his eyes again cuddling against his mother to get comfortable before relaxing and letting her lull him to sleep by stroking his back, rubbing it in a circular motion to keep him calm.
She sighed and looked to Taylor but the little girl was still fast asleep. Thankfully it was mid-day and her husband wouldn’t be home anytime soon… if he was she left a note on the fridge and he might come looking for her but she didn’t think he’d be at the house, he hadn’t come home last night either… something about another new wolf.

"Like I said, I ran out of cigarettes, so I grabbed another pack from the corner store."
If it had been about anything else, Richard would've hated to repeat himself. However, the complete confusion he got from this other vampire in his presence seemed to warrant the repeat explanation. No matter though; as long as she wasn't going to initiate a preemptive strike he figured it was worth the trouble of having to re-state why he was in the current vicinity. One thing simply led to another and soon enough Richard found himself encroaching on the vicinity of a female vampire and her human cohorts; cohorts probably wasn't the best way to describe it, more like they were more like her close friends from the way she pounced on him.
Her comment about his eyes being red only caused Richard to put his hand to his forehead and wipe it down the left side of his face, a more gesture-like way of rolling one's eyes. It was his own personal choice that he chose to dine on the blood of humans rather than animals; it felt more satisfying than animal blood and it was far more convenient than having to go out hunting animals every morning; those didn't repopulate too quickly either, not when humans hunted them for sport or making smoked jerky out of them. Richard's method of extracting blood from humans was quite humane, although it was also considered unwilling if his victims were awake. A simple douse of ether, a quick needle extract (sanitary of course) and a syringe full of blood was all he needed from them, leaving his human donors alive and only with a mild headache once they woke up albeit a little confusion following. He never got caught, but he might not be so lucky under the watch of other vampires.
"If you need proof, this should be enough..."
Richard pulled out a thick-bodied syringe tipped with a short, sterile hypodermic needle (capped of course) from a holster on the back of his belt where he normally kept tools or such when he was working. It was full of human blood; the scent was unmistakable. It never killed anyone, rather it just served its purpose.
Richard raised an eyebrow at her next explanation of there being a whole coven of vampires who drank from animals and there being werewolves on the Indian reservation not far from here. In all honesty, he wasn't really surprised. He was a little bit of a cultist at heart, so the eternal struggle of vampires and werewolves seemed pretty real to him now that he was one of the children of the night. But the murders, however, was something he did catch wind of from time to time. Although he wasn't the responsible party, he could certainly look like the guilty party by those who knew better. All the more reason for Richard to explain himself.
"It's news to me save for the murders part, but I'm not really surprised. I'm a loner most of the time."
Being asked to make a promise was something Richard didn't see coming, but if it would bury the hatchet then by all means he would be willing to. He wasn't even thirsty anyway, having already filled up on blood earlier today. Hunting a human during work hours wasn't exactly a productive thing to do, so it was in Richard's best interest to do that on his own time when there were wanderers he could get blood from at night in Port Angeles. Why be a burden on an already serial killer-burdened town?
"I promise you I'm no threat to your human friends; I'm not thirsty nor will I be for a while, and it's not in my best interest to make enemies right now."
With his promise stated, Richard, putting his syringe back into the back of his belt holster, learned that this vampire girl was named Alice Cullen, part of the Olympic Coven. She had no job, but then again who needed one when they were ageless and only had to survive on the blood of other humans or animals? It made sense to Richard, but he couldn't think about being without his job; cars were his passion, and he might as well make some money while putting his skills to good use.
"A pleasure I'm sure. If you need anything as far as cars go, I'm always around the auto shop."

RUN DON’T WALK THE SKY IS FALLING THROUGH DON’T TALK TONIGHT I’M SO CONFUSED I’M LOST, I’M LOST WITH YOU
Alice glanced over to where she saw something he’d dropped. Of course it was a half burned cigarette. “Why does a vampire smoke?” She asked slowly. “Sorry for all the questions on the cigarettes, I’m just, you know, surprised.” She shrugged lightly. Trying to be as nice as possible whilst still not trying to show how worried for Emily’s life she was.
Watching as he touched his head, she didn’t move, just waited. She could tell that he didn’t talk much with anyone, that was fair enough, she just relaxed and waited patiently for him to speak again. Alice wasn’t usually on edge like this but with two children who could potentially be in danger, she found it just a little bit daunting. Alice hadn’t been this tense for a while, and she didn’t like feeling it either.
When he pulled out the syringe, she instantly smelled the blood and had to hold her breath. Though Alice’s restrain when it came to human blood was very good, exceptional really, when it came to spilt blood, free blood, she wasn’t that good at it. Looking away she just nodded to show she believed him, moving and turning away as she closed her eyes, trying her hardest not to smell the human blood. There was still the lingering smell in her nostrils from when she’s smelt it before. When she opened her eyes again, her eyes were coal black. She glanced over to the vampire and tried to keep her cool.
“Ok, I believe you.” She said quicker than she’d ever spoken.
Nodding slightly she looked over at him. “Well if you ever need company or something my family would welcome you probably.” She said slowly. She was still not breathing properly. She didn’t think she could, she was terrified she’d get too much lust for the blood.
She nodded slowly as he promised not to hurt Emily. “Good, if anything hurts to her, my family will be in a lot of trouble.” She said slowly as she stepped back. “I’m sorry I can’t be so near to that blood.” She couldn’t help it the blood was potent and she desperately needed to feed now.

It seemed that Richard had found some interesting discussion points in the little conversation he'd been trying to initiate between him and Alice. Apparently she was dumbfounded when Richard said he smoked cigarettes. All they really did was dull the smell of anything else around him, much like it inhibited the sense of smell that humans carried. Only to Richard, the cigarettes were simply masking anything that might smell too alluring to resist, much like the human blood he chose to dine on. Come to think of it, Richard tolerated human blood a lot better than some other vampires he'd come across; if this was because of the cigarettes' ability to disguise a scent, then he might've actually found a use for them...
Saying nothing in return to Alice's question about why he smoked, Richard simply picked his brain as to why he dealt with the toxic chemicals humans used for recreation and most commonly were addictive. He didn't turn up much of an explanation, but he kept the thought in the back of his mind if he ever did manage to bring up something worthy of explaining.
Immediately putting the syringe away in his back belt holster (making sure it was thoroughly sealed in response to Alice's reaction to it), Richard decided to do something a little risque but seemed to be the only viable option at the moment. He pulled out a fresh cigarette and set the tip ablaze with his lighter, igniting the tobacco stick and generating the toxic smoke it was known for. A few quick puffs off of it and a thick plume of smoke exhaled later, Richard directed the plume towards Alice's face, aiming to get the acrid smoke to invade her nasal cavity and dull her sensitivity to the human blood. It worked for Richard in theory, so why would it not work for this veggie vampire? Hopefully her eyes would return to yellow soon; he didn't see many stray animals walking around here, unless she wanted to have a quick shooter of human blood to sate her thirst...
"That should help a bit..." Richard said, flicking the ashes of his quick-burning cigarette. These might come in handy for the time being unless he wanted to make a quick sprint back to his car in order to dispose of the syringe for when he might need it later. Still, keeping it around but not taking it out seemed to be the right thing to do here.
"I appreciate the sentiment, but with the way you proceeded to rush me a little bit ago I'd probably need a trustee to be welcome around your coven..."
Richard didn't mean to sound condescending, but he was just covering all his own bases. Even if Alice was the only part of her own coven to make contact with Richard, he probably wouldn't go near their place of residence unless Alice was there to show and invite him in. She might've gone deeper than Richard's demon child exterior, but others probably weren't so perceptive or willing to listen. This was what gave Richard a lot of trouble with other vampires (and especially werewolves), so being a loner was his comfort zone. On the other hand, if there was someone in need of a car fix, Richard was only too eager to help.
"It's okay; it's sealed in my belt pouch, so it won't be a problem now," Richard said in reassurance to Alice. She didn't take well to human blood; her response was a lot like someone taking their first hit of a potent drug and finding it hard to resist the second hit. The harder they tried, the more alluring it became. It must've been hard to be a veggie vampire unless they were in that rut for so long it wouldn't matter...
"So... who is your friend?" Richard asked, trying to get passed what had just transpired. He didn't like to seem like the odd man out here (while in all reality he was, in every aspect almost), so trying to carry on the conversation to a more light-hearted topic felt like the right thing to do. Even though Richard wasn't used to this sort of thing, he'd survive; he always did...
